Fried Plantains with Cinnamon Sugar Recipe

Ingredients

  • Approximately 2 cups Mazola® Corn Oil
  • 2 to 3 firm, ripe plantains
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Instructions

  1. Step 1) Heat oil to 350℉ in a deep fryer or large deep skillet.
  2. Step 2) While oil is heating, peel and thinly slice plantains lengthwise. or cut in long diagonal slices.
  3. Step 3) Divide slices in 2 or 3 batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry slices 3 to 4 minutes until golden. Remove using tongs and place on paper towels to drain.
  4. Step 4) Sprinkle lightly with cinnamon sugar. Turn to coat both sides. Serve immediately.
  5. RECIPE NOTE: These crisp plantains are great as a snack and also work as a delicious garnish for ice cream.
