MAZOLA® PROUDLY ANNOUNCES THE LAUNCH OF NOTHING BUT PURE TASTE
New Mazola Pure™ Cooking Spray Boasts No Alcohol, No Silicone
Memphis, TN – Fall 2005 – Answering consumer's continued demand for great-performing and great tasting
convenience products that fit a healthier lifestyle, Mazola introduces a cooking spray with no
alcohol and no silicone for a great new fat-free cooking option that has Pure
aroma and Pure taste.
Patent-pending Mazola Pure™ Cooking Spray, combines Pure taste with an unbeatable no-stick formula and
gives consumers all the performance and convenience they want. Furthermore, Mazola Pure Cooking Spray is cholesterol
free and contains zero grams trans fat per serving, offering consumers a healthier alternative to high saturated fat
products like butter and margarine.
"We know that people are looking for innovative cooking products to fit into their convenience-driven
lifestyles and rarely give up good taste for health benefits," said Frank Thometz, Vice President of
Marketing for Mazola. "Mazola Pure finally answers the call for a cooking spray without the alcohol
and silicone found in other leading sprays. In fact, consumers have told us this product will expand
the way they use cooking sprays in their everyday cooking."
In consumer product testing, consumers who liked the pure, natural taste and the convenience of the light
spray looked to expand their use of cooking sprays to include sautéing meat and vegetables, spraying on
meats to hold seasonings while cooking, adding flavor to popcorn, and browning foods in the microwave.
Already on supermarket shelves nationwide in October 2005, Mazola Pure Cooking Spray is available in a variety of
all-natural great-tasting flavors, including Original Canola Oil (6 oz.), Natural Butter Flavor (5 oz.)
and Extra Virgin Olive Oil (5 oz.) at a suggested retail price of $3.30.
Each variety is great for a wide-range of kitchen uses and will change the way consumers think about
cooking sprays. Mazola Pure Natural Butter is a healthier alternative to butter or margarine and is
great for adding light flavor when grilling sandwiches or making popcorn, while Mazola Pure Extra
Virgin Olive Oil provides light, even pan coverage and a touch of flavor when pan searing seafood
or chicken. Mazola Pure Canola Oil can substitute for canola oil when sautéing meat and vegetables.
Mazola Pure Cooking Spray combines great performance and convenience with new breakthrough packaging. Its newly
designed can has received rave reviews from consumers. It features a new unique attractive shape
can, with an easy-to-remove dome-shaped cap and wide-finger tipped nozzle.
Mazola will support the launch of new Mazola Pure Cooking Spray with national TV advertising in November and
December 2005 and April 2006 networks such as HGTV and Food Network and shows such as Today and
The Evening News. In addition, the brand will conduct Internet advertising through AllRecipes,
Food Network and ivillage. To drive trial and usage, Mazola will also offer product coupons
via national FSIs and in-store merchandising displays.
